Our approach

Change begins with trust.

We believe lasting change grows when people have the freedom to develop their own ideas, make decisions and take responsibility.

That is why we do not arrive with ready-made answers. We listen first, learn from one another and work with local partners to develop ideas that respond to real needs and can last.

We create space for people to develop ideas, take responsibility and shape paths of their own.

How ideas grow

Space creates possibilities. And possibilities can grow into lasting, locally led structures.

Trust → Learning → Creating → Organising → Self-reliance

01 · Trust

Relationships come first. We take time to listen, understand different perspectives and discover together what might be possible.

02 · Learning

Learning goes both ways. Existing skills and local knowledge matter just as much as new knowledge and experience.

03 · Creating

Ideas become real projects. People develop solutions, try them out and shape what comes next.

04 · Organising

What works should not depend on ARB forever. We help strengthen local structures, cooperatives and other forms of self-organisation that can stand on their own.

05 · Self-reliance

Our aim is for responsibility to move increasingly into local hands, so that a shared project can grow into something that continues without us.

Partnership as equals

Sharing responsibility.

Local partners shape projects from the first idea through to implementation.

For us, development cooperation means supporting local responsibility, not replacing it.

Local partners make decisions, take responsibility and shape the work. ARB contributes where it can add something useful – whether through knowledge, funding, networks or access to new markets.

Step by step, support can become self-reliance.

Own paths need space.
